y name is Jeff Black, and I write "Morning by Morning."

Here is a picture of me with my family. From left to right in this picture, taken recently at our son's wedding, are son-in-law, Stephen Koff, daughter Stephanie, daughter-in-law Cathy Feingold, son Jerry, wife Barbara and me.

I'm a pastor, having preached for twenty eight years now. I graduated from Hamilton College, enjoyed a year as a Fullbright Scholar with my bride in France, studied literature up through the doctoral level at Indiana University, and taught writing there until going to seminary. Since ordination I have served in churches large and small. Currently I minister in a new church, St. Barnabas the Encourager, in Austin,Texas.

"Morning by Morning": started in 2002, and is simply a sharing of my personal daily Bible reading. I take the title from Isaiah 50, verse 4:

The Lord God has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens - wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught.
